just got back from the LCBO in the manlife building........and like Gregclow said, they have schedules telling them when to put something on the shelves. I spoke with a guy there, he was very nice and informative, and a lady there was also very nice. They said they have some of the new gift packs, but they arn't allowed to sell it to me yet. the lady mentionned late October. This i can totally understand, but it still irks me that the LCBO posts it on their website, gives these items and price and tells me where i can go buy it, but really i cant buy it yet. oh well c'est la vie!

They can seel it all they want. We were selling ours today. If it's in the back, it's for sale, unless it is a vintages release. Otherwise, it is plain laziness.

Yes the Manulife LC staff are telling you guys stories.

Don't waste your time with these people who are refusing to sell you products clearly advertised on the website.

Sadly, the only solution is to call ahead & find a store that is not run by such individuals - confirm a store will sell you listed stock before going.

I've contacted the LCBO's Beer department to get clarification from them as to whether the stores should be selling these items now...I'll let you know what comes of that.

just got back for the LCBO at summerhill. they have LOADS of giftpacks in the beer section, still all in boxes, but i asked and an employee told me to go nuts and open up the boxes and grab whatever i wanted. grabbed a chimay, sinha, exclusive belgian ales, and biere du boucaniers gift packs!

The LCBO in the Atrium is also stacked with gift packs. I ended up picking up the Erdinger pack(comes with the Dunkel also), Sinha (surprised to see this), Exclusive Belgian Ales, Chimay, De Koninck. That's all I could carry home, as I already had my hands full. I will go back for the others, and probably get two or three Christoffel Jugs, and Chimay packs, so I can have those beers on hand.

I was also just at the Atrium on Bay - plenty there.
They also had the Weston's Cider packs and the big 2L jug of Christoffel Winterbier - 27 bucks though for the latter!
Anyone tried it ? I was curious but hesitant - the jug's actually pretty corny looking.
Looks like some interesting stuff there though.

Is that an invitation? :D 2 liters is a lot of high-ABV beer to slug back, be careful there!

(Might be an excellent holiday sharing item, the Christoffel.)

LCBO advises that the Holiday Gift program officially starts on Nov. 6 but stores can sell before that date at their discretion. They mentioned that stores with limited back room storage would probably put the product on the floor right away but other stores might wait until the official date, however, the implication was that there was absolutely no reason that a store which had stock could not sell it in advance of Nov. 6th. So, if you encounter a store that refuses to sell to you even though they have stock, ask to speak the Manager or Assitant Manager and tell them that there is no reason they should refuse you as stores all over the province are selling the stuff and there is no specific prohibition keeping them from doing so.

It's the 'discretion' thing that bugs me - these 'nice' staff could have discreetly got items for the 'nice' customers who travelled all the way in to the store, rather than disrespect their time.

But thanks for letting us know there is no specific prohibition keeping them from selling stock to paying, informed customers.

Looks like pretty much everything has hit the shelves at the LCBO on Lansdowne in Peterborough. Grabbed a Sinha pack there yesterday and eyeballed a bunch of other stuff.

A Sinha Stout, a Sinha Lager, and a glass. I haven't seen one myself yet, but I've heard that the glass is very nice.
