Wow, you're brave if you're going to do strawberries and stout as I don't think it's a good combination...I think that the acidity of the strawberries, especially out of season strawberries, is going to wreak havoc with your palate and would go better with something equally acidic like lambic...remember, this is chocolate stout, not chocolate...perhaps if you also try some actual chocolate with this combination it might work....but I don't think it will....at least that's my opinion and I could be wrong,,
Hmmmm... yeah, you've got a point there. I guess I was thinking that chocolate & strawberries go together well, so why not chocolate stout & strawberries? But they may not mesh too well.
I think we'll still give it a shot, though. Just a taste at least to see how it goes. And if it's a failure, we've still got a couple more bottles of the stout for later, so it won't be a complete waste.

OK, we ended up skipping the strawberries, but we cracked open one of the Rogue Chocolate Stouts tonight, and it gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from both Sheryl and myself.
It's got an amazing aroma of rich, dark bittersweet chocolate that carries through to the flavour, where it's joined by a bit of coffee/mocha and a nice hint of hops in the finish. Really, really good stuff. We'll be stocking up with a few more bottles as soon as possible.

Greg, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed this great brew....we're very enthusiastic about it and hope that the Ontario consumer will respond in a big way to ensure that we can keep bringing fine Rogue beers to the LCBO. It's always a struggle as U.S. micros are not big sellers in Ontario and we're always twisting the LCBO's arm to buy some of these great products.
Rogue hasn't let me down yet, and I'm always happy to see another of their beers on the shelf.
And regarding the Chocolate - we'll be picking up a few more bottles tomorrow, and if there's any chance that you'll be able to bring it in on consignment in the future, we'll most definately be up for getting a case or two.

Whoa back up kiddies.
Is that the sound of harsh reality in my ears?
Is the Wild Irish stout I presentely holding in my hands nothing more than the Shakespear?
espirit. You've turned this message board into a house of lies!
I wasn't too jake on the Shakespear (thought it was weak compared to others out there), but I admit I'm enjoying the Irish. Am I eating my own words! Are they in fact EXACTLY the same?
Yes I am drinking by myself, in front of the computer, I know I need help but the beer..........It's a tasty one!

on the contrary Tar Bowel, it's a house of truths because only you privileged Bartowellers were told that yes, Wild and Shakes are on and the same...actually, they never made a big secret of it in the states either. Wild Irish was simply a seasonal St. Paddy's Day release of Shakespeare. In fact, many of Rogues unique offerings in the past were in fact one of their regular beers. Their Maierbock often masqueraded under a number of different labels. What's interesting is that Wild Irish has been dropped from the U.S. lineup of Rogue products but we have had such success with it in Canada that they make it just for us. If you look at the bottle closely you'll notice that it's Canadianized with the all the required bilingual and metric stuff.
