North Coast Brewing Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

Post by Publican »

Tonight being that it's Christmas Eve ( yes Christmas not Holiday Eve or Festive Eve) I will be having one bottle of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout whilst sitting in front of my Mum's fireplace which unfortunatly is not real but gas. This Stout is brewed by the North Coast Brewing in Fort Bragg, CA and is 9% abv. I picked up a four pack at Consumers Beverages in Williamsville NY when I was down in Buffalo for the Buffalo Brewfest in September.

I will post tasting notes tonight or tomorrow.

My Christmas eve special sampling is a Lagunitas Undercover Shutdown Ale. Quite lovely and a perfect fit for an evening by the fire.
I don't always piss in a bottle but when I do...I prefer to call it Dos Equis.

Au Maître Brasseur La Route des Indes
Les Trois Mousquetaires Imperial Weizen

I had a Tsarina Katrina 2005 in the fridge but ate too much dinner and chocolate so was no longer in the mood for it.

Merry Christmas!

Greg gave me his last bottle of Bah Humbug (the guy is cool!) so I had this today.

The beer is alright, it just reminds me a little of Brio Chinotto. Not bad though! Thanks Gregor.

Also knocked off some Sgt Majors IPA, Lion Stout, Westmalle Dubbel, HOTD Adam, and a Collin-Bourisset Cotes de Brouilly that FRIGGIN SUCKED compared to ANY of these fine ales. I should rest now. Good night!

Glad you enjoyed the Bah Humbug, Belgian.

I spent the evening enjoying a can of EKU 28 that I got in a recent trade - more proof that it's possible to get great beer in a can. I was planning on following it up with something else, but it ended up being quite a potent little number (11%!), so I just savoured it for most of the night.

Merry Christmas, all!

I had a night with the family which included some random LCBO offerings:

- Glenora Red Coat Pale Ale
- Heritage Blackcurrant Rye
- Sam Smith Winter Welcome
- St. Peter's Winter Ale
- Mort Subite Framboise
- Pump House Blueberry

I didn't pull out anything too exclusive for tonight but all in all a great Christmas Eve.

I didn't get a chance to drink the Rasputin and I just bought a new computer as my Pentium 1 finally died. I am not hooked up to the internet as I have to call my ISP and order DSL service. I will post tasting notes when I get back online at home.
