La Messagere - $1.50

Post by Belgian »

Why spend 18 bucks-a-six to try this gnarly stuff, when the 'broken case' clearance baskets at LC stores often sell them for $1.50. Just a thought.

... and really really don't like beer.

The stuff is awful and tastes nothing like a good beer.
It doesn't even really taste much like a BAD beer.

Perhaps I'm jaded, but if I could not drink beer with gluten in it I would start developing my taste for wine...

Messagere reminds me of an uremarkable perry or cider ++ the evil yeast signature of cheaply-made white wine. Times ten.

Not saying it couldn't possibly be drinkable if it were better-made, who knows. But it will convince gluten-intolerant people to avoid beer.

I suspect it only hogs shelf space at LCBO for political reasons. They could just as easily stock something very good.

Funnily enough, this stuff does extremely well.

Presumably there are enough ex-swill-drinkers who are on gluten free diets to support it.

Agreed.

ANd what is ever funnier, is that these people love the stuff, and always tell me how it tastes better than Canadian.
