Unibroue / Sleeman Beer Dinner at Safari

Post by Cass »

Safari, a local restaurant for me, is hosting a Unibroue/Sleeman beer dinner on April 18th. Safari is on Avenue Road north of Lawrence.

I highly applaud Safari for this, since the Avenue Road North area is pretty desolate when it comes to good beer. It's nice to see a beer dinner up in this part of town.

Information from Safari:
Our inaugural beer dinner will be hosted by the "Professor of Beer", Roger Mittag, who is one of Canada's leading authorities on beer. Upon arrival everyone will receive a welcome beer and we will have a short introduction on beer tasting and some background into the beers that we have chosen for the evening and why. An exquisite three course dinner will follow, paired perfectly with superbly crafted beers from Unibroue which is located in Chambly Quebec and is considered to be one of the top 10 breweries in the world for quality, creative beers. The owner of Safari recently had the pleasure of touring Unibroue's facility with the brew master and was blown away by the cleanliness of the brewery and care taken into each beer that bears Unibroue's legacy. It was extremely motivating for him to spend time with someone who is totally committed to his craft and at the top of his game!

Facts for the dinner are as follows:

$69 plus applicable taxes and gratuity for 4 beers and three course meal consisting of

Seafood Trio with jumbo shrimp, scallop and mussels in a beer broth.

Main course of 14oz veal chop in a reduced beer demi-glaze.

Dessert Baked Apple stuffed with Mascarpone with maple englais.

Beers featured in the dinner will be

John Sleeman Presents IPA as the welcome beer,

Blanch de Chambly paired with first course

Raftman paired to entrée

Maudite paired with dessert.
