Bowman's Ball *Thurs Aug 7* Toronto Beer Festival

Post by efman »

I have a pair of tickets for the Bowman's Ball which is the new launch event for the Toronto Beer Festival. (addon for Hopscotch event)

The English Beat is playing, which is awesome.

The question I have (and I emailed the TBF people weeks ago) is if this will be a regular beer sampling night with all the booths?

Or a scaled down Bowman Poker night?

I usually go Friday nights (to get the great samplings from the Irish Scotch Brewery) , but I cant go two nights in a row if the full beer types are there....I would suffer alcohol poisoning !!

Actually, it's not new. They did it last year as well.

Well, technically, it's Dave Wakeling and a bunch of guys who weren't in the Beat. (Ranking Roger is currently fronting another version of The Beat in the UK which I think has one of the other original members, along with some new guys.) Should still be good, though.

If it's the same as last year, then yes, it will be.

They had some poker thing going on on the Thursday night last year (not being a poker player, I didn't pay much attention to it), but this year, they're doing a poker night the week before at Amsterdam Brewery. So there may not be any poker at the Bowmans Ball night.

That would be Scotch Irish. And don't expect anything special from them this year, as Perry Mason - the original owner of Scotch Irish and the guy who brewed the festival one-offs - left Heritage Brewery, the current owners of the S-I brands, a few months ago.
