I doubt it was the drink by date since it said "DATE OF PRODUCTION." And all the other bottles had dates of mid-2007.
It tasted decently fresh, and if your bottle has a code that suggests it hasn't been made yet, then I guess we're reading the codes wrong, or you're making that up.
I grabbed my bottle from the back of the shelf.

Now I'm enjoying a nice tall glass of Warka Strong. Man, this is actually a nice brew! Decently complex malt flavours in perfect balance with the grassy hops. Very drinkable at 7% abv. This thing really gets a rough ride on RateBeer. Beautiful golden amber colour too. The only thing I don't like is the minor alcoholic flavour in the finish, but other than that this is a solid beer.

Am trying the "new" Golden Pheasant (i.e., new slimmer bottle format, available at Summerhill, still in a green bottle). The new packaging twigged me that it is likely fresh stock, and it is: the beer appears to have been packaged 6 weeks ago. This is too soon for light to have affected it and likely mine were very recently uncased.
It is just superb, evidently Bohemian in style, something like Urquel and Budvar but different from them again. That appetizing malt sweetness that is the hallmark of Czech malting barley is much in evidence, with a very tasty finish in which the flowery Saaz intertwines to perfection.
Fine Czech stuff, a classic.
