Henry's Irish (growler) from Publican House. Not sure how I let this sit for two weeks, but doesn't seemed to have done any damage to it. Big dry roast character, sharp finish

started the evening sipping on a 2004 jw lees harvest ale aged in port casks, and finished it sipping on a cantillon classic gueuze. very different, and very good. now i'm thinking maybe a little glenlivit for a nightcap.

Black Oak Pale. I take this one for granted too often. I'll be buying lots of this over the summer. A great sessioner.

Sounds good. Hopefully not the Glenlivet 12 though. It's pretty weak in terms of single malts. But hey, I guess any single malt is good!

St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale. I actually picked this up expecting it to be a Fruli-style mess, and didn't have high hopes, but I was curious. Actually it's a pretty good wit with a very subtle apricot flavour, not merely juice mixed with witbier.

Yeah, the SA Apricot Wheat is a pretty good patio beer, and something my girlfriend and I can agree on. Though, not to be a dick, it is certainly not a wit.

glenlivet ain't my favourite, but it's nice and sometimes the price is right. in this case, it was the 16yr aged nadura cask strength. pretty hot, so it's one of the rare times that i actually throw in a little water - which probably brings it down from ~60% to more like the usual 40% we get anyway.

lagavulin just keeps going up in price. wish i could always have bottles of that on hand!

I'm as much of a peat monster as a hop head. Lag was always one of my 3 or 4 favorite scotches. These days I only have about half a bottle of Distillers edition, 3/4 of a 16 and about half of a 12...and all of those I purchased more than five years ago. I can't justify dropping $100+ on a bottle of Lag anymore. I'll only buy it now if I see it at a reasonable price going through duty free. Quebec still seems to have some better pricing for single malts relative to Ontario, Lagavulin 16 is only $100.50 at the SAQ compared to $124 at the LCBO.
I don't always piss in a bottle but when I do...I prefer to call it Dos Equis.

yeah, that's exactly why i don't have some on hand. i think the distillers edition is my favourite of the bunch, slightly above the 16yr. tends to be something that i pick up for a special occasion as it's otherwise hard to justify. still, it's damn tasty stuff.

Les Trois Mousquetaires Série Signature Rauchbier. Greatness.

The other night I had a Au Maître Brasseur Paroxysme Alt that I rated well above the average as well.

Along with the L'Amère à Boire Vollbier, there's some great German brewing in Quebec!

Or maybe I'm just a little biased because we're so lacking here in Onterrible? (I'm going have to get back to Germany sometime).

Derek, the great thing about Ontario is that you appreciate good beer all the more.

Blanche de Chambly with some rosee sauce... doesn't work as nice as I had hoped it would.

Tonight I'm having ................

Hopfenstark Postcolonial IPA

Pretty good, though the ratings on ratebeer seem to be inflated a bit. Certainly a good beer, just not "that" good. Glad I got to try it either way.
