Citra hops
Citra hops
Man I'd like to get my hands on some of these:
Citra has a special flavor and aroma that it imparts to beer. Depending on the brewing process and the hopping rate, the flavors and aromas of beers hopped with Citra might range from grapefruit to lime, melon, gooseberry, and lychee fruit.
Guess these were developed for Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA. At least one US homebrew supplier has had the pellets online, but they are sold out. I'll be on the lookout for a restock.

I have been doing an annual order from Freshops the last 3 years. I order all my hops for the year - everything comes vacuum packed, and I toss them in the freezer, so they easily stay fresh for 12 months (just made an IPA in Sept with 2008 hops, and they exploded with aroma when I opened the bags). You can also get them to break up your amounts into smaller bags (say you want 8oz of Amarillo, they can split them into 2 4oz bags, or 4 2oz bags, but they will charge you and additional 50 cents per bag).
So anyhoo, I placed an order last Tuesday for 10lbs of hops. Got them on Monday. With shipping and exchange rate (plus 17 extra bags), it worked out to $1.91/oz CAD. The going rate locally is about $5/oz, plus tax, and freshness is a huge issue.
