So the government agencies are under scrutiny. I wonder if the LCBO is in the radar? I'm not suggesting there is any corruption there, but should they be watching out for some bad press too?

Actually, the LCBO aside, I'm amazed at the arrogance of some of these people. You have to be pretty stupid not to watch your step when you are on the public purse. The management culture must be pretty disfunctional.

Oh hell, I am sure there are. But the only people you will ever hear about are the workers, not the higher-ups who make all the bloody decisions etc.

I wouldn't say the management culture is dysfunctional. It's what happens when you put private executives in charge of public services and expect them to behave like public servants.

The lack of scandals in the LCBO is surprising... the Beer Store is, of course, a scandal in and of itself, but nobody cares.

I was in the walk in beer store in Georgetown last weekend, forgot how much I loved that concept. Picked up sixes of Maudite, Trois Pistoles and La Fin du Monde. Saw sixers from just about every Ontario Brewery, and all right there easy to grab.

No phony "Its out of Stock" excuses, The ability to check freshness, the ability to see the variation you can get at a Beer Store. Its no wonder MolBatts shuts down those layouts, and goes with "The Wall"

The OLG is another monopoly that needs to be toppled along with the LCBO.

It would be nice to get some real competitive casinos and sportbooks in the province so I could actually make the money I should be making off of my sports betting. The OLG's vig is unreal.

Bang on

I get so tired of hearing the lame line that they must pay ridiculously high salaries to these top level managers because that is what they could earn in the private sector. It is time they tried putting some regular Joes into some of these positions. People who aren't accustomed to unmonitored expense accounts and who make a small enough wage that they understand the value of money. If you make a half million a year you get completely out of touch with what most people think is reasonable. If you make 50k a year and have to decide what luxuries you can afford and what is out of reach it gives a much more balanced approach to budgeting.
