Need some DME

Post by Gedge »

I'm looking for some DME in Toronto for a brew day on the weekend. Had 3 lbs. on order from Canadian Homebrew Supplies, but they've really dropped the ball on me this time out and I'm not expecting it to arrive before Saturday.

I'd recommend giving Fermentations on Danforth a call and seeing if they'd sell you some. 416 778-9000

If I recall, Grain Process Enterprises in Scarborough had DME listed as one of the items they sold last time I was there. I think it came in 5kg bags.

Yeah, I was hoping for something in the city (no car) and not Fermentations as they charge $7.50/lb.

Well, Grain Process is sort of TTC accessible. Where abouts do you live? I think I've got 3 lbs (better go check). I'm near Bloor/Bathurst if that helps.

I am in the east end, but Bloor/Bathurst is way easier for me to get to (esp. if I could meet you tomorrow). Cheers!

Hey Kyle,

Nice to meet you today. Looking forward to trying your Black IPA. Hope the brew session goes well this weekend. I'm taking some time off after 5 40 liter batches in 3 weeks.

Only 200 litres? Are you sure you have enough?

Haha, I hope so. Honestly though, with kids and all, sometimes brewing ahead of what you need is the best approach. With winter coming, I'll have lots of time to produce lagers for the spring/early summer.

Just coming late to this thread,
if either of you need a pickup from Grain Process, let me know. It's not too far from work for me. I understand it wouldn't be one's first choice but in a pinch... just putting it out there.
Cheers

Might need some DME one of these days so may take you up on your offer, but not in a rush. You happen to have a product list of what they have?

I do. No prices on it. I haven't found the grain in general to be inspiring but they have a pretty good selection. As I recall, they have liquid and spraymalt in various sizes.
Best would be to call, figure out the size and cost then let me know.
Their product list is pretty cool though. Tons of rices and other grains. Dried fruit, nuts, spices, sweeteners, baking supplies... the mind boggles at what one could put in beer.
