The Black Oak Brewing Company is pleased to announce its entry into the Low Carb Product market.
"Our Reverse Osmosis Water is guaranteed to be low in carbohydrates, completely void of fats (including trans fats) and completely lacking in protein". Stated Ken Woods, President of Black Oak.
The taste profile is similar to other low carb products but lacks the intoxicating effect.
"You can drink all you want and still not get a hangover" continued Ken. "I've done countless trials with our RO H20 and aside from the slight inconvenience of extra trips to the washroom, it doesn't have those nasty carbs".
Black Oak plans to develop a new marketing straegy involving many MBA's doing lots of marketing survey's.
Currently the RO H20 is only available in Oakville at the retail store, if you bring your own jug.

Very nice :wink:. Sleemans has one of the most unintentionally funny ads I've ever seen for their "Clear" low-carb beer--just a big picture of the bottle, and stamped over it in big letters are the words "Drink Less." Indeed!

I've been laughing about this advertising strategy ever since it came out. Sleeman has officially crossed the line on this one. It has joined the macro troups who sell their beers with smoke and mirrors to the unsuspecting public. Other BS tactics have included:

Budweiser - uses beechwood as a sedimentation aid to clear their beers. The beer is in contact with the (bleached to remove any flavour contribution) beachwood for approximately three days and they claim that the beer is AGED in beechwood. Some poor suckers claim that they can taste the wood in that beer.

Of course all of the ICE beers, cold filtered, less filling, mountain spring water etc campains are legends as well.

For those who might be interested, 5 grams of carbs (about average for a beer) translates to about 17-20 calories. So saving half of that is about 10 calories. An average beer contains in the neighbourhood of 170 calories (bottle) so the total amount removed is really minute- About the size of a bite from a slice of bread.

When the coronaries start piling up from those who don't follow their Atkins Diet to the letter, the tide will sway back to full carb beers, maybe even extra carb beers! How many carbs in hops...:smile:

Hey Gang, wanted to get in my 2 cents re: the low carb beer...

I'm also disappointed that this is the latest "new trend" in beer - How about next we try, uh... Hmmm... GRAVITY??

Thanks for posting the info on the actual effect of them removing like 3 grams of carbs, that's great...

I want to make up some T-Shirts that say something like "I LIKE CARBS IN MY BEER." or something like that - Who's in :wink: Or how about "LOW CARB BEER IS FOR SISSIES." Hehehe...
