That's a seriously nice beer, and I think one of the best brews you can pick up in Buffalo.

Finally got around to cracking my first beer open last night (so not strictly drinking now) since Monday night. Decided on an Alley Kat KGB RIS and a DFH 90. The KGB was deliciously strong in flavour and looks, must buy more as it appears to be a keeper.

ST Creme Brulee. Probably the weirdest beer I've ever had, but I like it, it still works. I offered my wife a glass, she took one sip and said no thanks.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

And Len, how did that third Aventinus go? I've never had more than one in a night. Mind you, I drank other beers those nights, but the Aventinus I usually save as a closer for the evening.

It went pretty well. I just woke up and I don't feel too rough.
3 is about all I can handle, but from time to time I do crack a 4th. That can get messy.

A while back, I had 2 bottles of the Creme Brulee and it didn't bother me.

Aventinus Eisbock from last year. I hated this when I had it fresh, I love it after letting it sit for a year. There is literally a half cm of trub on the bottom of the bottle.

Sierra Nevada Estate Harvest Ale. This is some seriously good shit. And readily available at a Wegmans in Buffalo no less

I wonder though: Is there any reason we don't get SN's beer at the LCBO (if we ever have, I wasn't paying enough attention to notice)?

When I was in New Zealand I saw they had the SN Kellerweis, Stout, Porter, Celebration and Torpedo fairly widely available, at least in the three or four grocery stores I visited while I was there. If they can have it on the other side of the planet it seems kind of odd that we can't get it here, you know, seeing as we're on the same continent and all. It seems like they're big enough and award winning enough with a proven track record in other markets and would come in at under $3.50 and all that other crap the LCBO uses as criteria for consideration.

Anyway, I'm following it up with a Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale. Which, as good as it is, is something of a letdown after the Estate.

I, too, would love to have any SN product on the LCBO shelves, but if I'm not mistaken I seem to recall SN backing out of a potential deal some years ago because the LCBO would not guarantee constant (i.e. shipping, warehouse, display) refrigeration of SN's product. A shame, really...

I don't know if the refrigeration was the issue (though it might have been). I believe the issues related to the LCBO packaging and labeling regs. SN were not prepared to strip label or alter existing labels for this one market, especially since there was no guarantee of ongoing business. Regardless, yet another example of decent beer being kept out by over zealous and inflexible bureaucracy.
I don't always piss in a bottle but when I do...I prefer to call it Dos Equis.
