Lol, this just happened to me yesterday. The idiot cashier punched all 3 bottles as Chimay Priemiere ,however, one of the three was La Fin Du Monde (about a buck cheaper). And this happens to me often so you really have to watch them. Another careless thing they do is to place beer bottles horizontally on the counter when packing them. I tell them all the time not to do that and that I will package them myself. These over payed high school dropouts are too complacent and ill trained.

A couple of the guys at King & Spadina are pretty good both for packing and their beer knowledge. They do exist but seem to be the exception not the rule.

I've had that pricing thing happen last year when the DDC beers first appeared. I didn't realize what happened until later that day. Fortunately it was in my favour.

The worst thing I've experienced with a cashier handling beer was one guy lifted a bottle up to the light, looked at it, gave it a good shake and said something to the effect of "Yeah, it's bottle conditioned." I was struck absolutely dumbfounded and couldn't even manage to say "WTF?!"

Got my hands on the Peche Mortel and the Aphrodite. Have to say I prefer the Aphrodite. Both amazing, but the Aphrodite has a very intoxicating smell and somewhat smoother taste. Have one more bottle of Peche lying around, it might taste better after I've had a decent meal with it.

i really hope that this feature is a success for the LCBO and they pick up at least one DDC for general list.
i suppose it would depend on DDC's production capabilites too, but it sure would be nice to be able to get these any time here in ON.

If all we had on list was the Corne IPA and the Aphrodite Stout, that would be just fine.

Others are great but would be fine just as seasonals. I'm still not big on the pepper beer unless I blend it with a richer beer like Aphrodite. Maybe I braise a brisket in it, or lamb shanks or osso bucco...

This over paid and ill trained highschool dropout is university educated, has a wine guild education, is likely the most helpful CSR you'd ever have, and knows more about beer than most. Of course, when you generalize the way you do, I don't think anyone would meet your expectations.

Well, hopefully HMH won't mind me spilling the beans on this...

I was speaking with Tomas last night at Project X, and he said that Corne du Diable has been accepted for general list. It should be available starting in February or so.

They'll also have some other DDC beers returning for seasonal releases in 2011, and have had a couple of other beers/breweries they represent accepted as well. AND they're adding several new breweries to their portfolio soon, including their first non-Canadian one.

I'll leave all of those details for them to reveal when they see fit to do so...

Aphrodite is truly amazing, can't stop buying mainly that one + some Corné although the other DDC's are real treats any day as well. We're spoiled for a change.

They will almost certainly bring in Dominus Vobiscum + Vache Folle, etc. from Charlevoix. Who knows if they've got Trois Mousquietaires, those can kick ass too. Keeping it Canadian and semi-local.

Wondering about other far-flung IPAs like Red Racer and Tree Hophead. All idle speculation, but amazing what the initiative & persistence of a few people can bring to our beer scene. [thumbs-up emoticon]

The double hop-head is great stuff. I don't think they've released any since last January, but there's still a few on the shelves here... discounted for just over $5 a bomber (and still drinking really well)!

Phillips Amnesiac is only $4.80 a bomber, which is a heck of a deal for an 8.5% brew... but it has a stronger malt backbone and sometimes I just feel like some hops!
