Does it smell good? Does it taste good? If yes to both, then why be bothered by some little floaties? It's just little clumps of protein, when you see that you know the brewery must of used a really coarse filtration. That means more flavour in the final beer, right?

I think thats what it is at least - maybe someone with some actual brewing experience would know better.
The floaties didn't bother me, it was really just the flavour; kinda pineapple with a hint of metal.

Working through some Québec bottles, the La Chouape Saison Houblon jumps out as an interesting new beer. These guys might be trying for the Fantôme thing (Farmhouse ale brewer from the Ardennes in Belgium.)

Did you hit up the brewpub? Nothing quite like drinking under a giant windmill...

Hirsch Neuschwansteiner. Clean, malty, and balanced lager. I wonder what Pootz thinks of this one?

it is. the pineapple works very well with the kolsch yeast. the trick is to let the pineapples get super ripe, almost overripe so that they're nice and sweet and lose most of their acidity.

This weekend there were a lot of great beers shared:

Founders Breakfast Stout - better than coffee and oatmeal seperate.

Saint Somewhere Saison Athenes - Craziest saison I've ever had to date. The body was insane for a saison.

New Glarus Unplugged ABT - Huge rum presences. I like that in a "quad"-ish type beer. I prefer something slightly dryer, but I'd be able to drink a lot of this one.

Homebrew Gruit - AWESOME!!!
Homebrew Sour cherry - awesome!!!

Stonehammer Dark. I really enjoy this beer!

Duggans #7. Different from the last time I tried it. Body has improved, a little less malty or "whopper" candy flavours.

Durham Hop Addict - This beer still got it! Delicious.

Finally got around to trying both Ten Bitter Years and Smash Bomb last night at the Winking Judge. Both were great but TBY came out the clear winner. Sad to find out they had nothing on cask that night, but the woman mentioned something about getting some Fuller's casks next week.

Picked up a few bottles for the weekend from Grand River on friday and I'm probably crazy, but Plowman's seems a bit hoppier in the last couple batches I've had. Apparently I missed their Kolsch by only a few hours!

Yesterday morning, to kick off Learn to Homebrew Day at 8am, we cracked a bottle of 2009 Half Pints Burlywine. It was most excellent.

Then we moved onto this year's Humulus Ludicrous. Pretty solid, though the hops are already fading for my tastes.

After that, it was nothing but samples of excellent homebrew while we brewed up about 30 gallons of beer, and smoked a bunch of chicken thighs and sausages for lunch.
