Improving Selection at my Local Beer Store

Post by Lecocq »

I work for The Beer Store in Tilbury and we just recently moved into a new self serve store. Great for a small town as the only others like it in my area is on Huron Church in Windsor and Richmond in London I believe. Anyways, as an avid craft beer drinker, options are pretty limited at TBS, especially in a small town. We didn't even have Steam Whistle when I started there. I made a suggestion to our manager for us to stock it and it got approved. We recently started stocking Big Rock brands. I know, I have read some less than flattering reviews of some of their beers but bought a 6 of their Traditional Ale and rather enjoyed it.

I have been wanting to try St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout for the longest time. I don't know if it's in just my area or what but it is very hard to come by around here. Between LCBO and TBS, i have to drive 45 mins to 1 hr either to Windsor or London to get any. Long story, short, I made a suggestion to my manager for us to carry that and low and behold, it was approved by the higher ups.

I know options are limited at TBS as far as good craft beer, but its a great place to work and if I can only bring in one or two decent beers as an option to all the Molson and Labatts stuff and to go along with the Mill Street and such that we already carry, all the better.

That's it for my rant

Keep doing what you're doing. It is exactly how my store is now one of the best stores for OCB beer in southern ontario.

I actually enjoy the Big Rock Traditional, its sweet and pretty simple tasting, but its pleasant.

Fortunately TBS around the corner from me carries Trois Pistoles from Unibroue. I'm still barbecuing so nothing better to wash a steak down with, or is it the other way around.

WEnt to my local beer store lately and was plasntly suprised. They had lots of ocb. Wellington, True North, Black Oak, Flying Monkeys, wolfgang, and king among others. As well as the usual quebec and alberta offerings. I might be stoping by there more often.

I know we're getting way OT but...

My local lcbo (whiteoaks) almost always has Boston Lager on the shelf. Thats my go to 6 pack when theres nothing else good. So does the argle location have any ipa on the shelves? For the record it was the Southern Tier that I went downtown to get.

.....why is so hard to get an ipa in Ontario.......

Yes we have Southern Tier IPA at all times. Message me privately if you want our full list of beer. Cheers
