from one Canadian brewery for the rest of your life, which would it be? This is a slight spin on a BA thread I just saw.

For me it would be Dieu du Ciel.

It would have to have a diversity of styles... I need a good hop fix, bready pils, hefeweizen, doppelbock, sessionable pale/bitter/amber and a bold roasty stout or porter. I need sessionable stuff as well as big, bold flavours. Definitely unpasteurized, preferably unfiltered. Very few fit the bill.

I'd probably go local, and Tree actually ticks those boxes. I love their porter, but I could use an Imperial Stout.

Back in Ontario I might lean towards Grand River... though it depends how you define 'brewery'. If you include Denison's with Amsterdam, it'd be a tough choice!

Total coin toss between DDC and Howe Sound. DDC have an impressive variety of great beers but sadly many are only available at the brewpub. HS also has a great brewpub, with a full menu of decent food, but they don't have nearly the number of varieties on tap throughout the year...however the have more of their product available in bottles and bottle an impressive number of their seasonals.

I think, due to geography and availability, I would have to choose Howe Sound.

Though ask me in about 6 months and I might tell you Central City...they are apparently about to start bottling a much larger number of their seasonals.

DdC for me. I might be tempted towards Beau's if their seasonals and special one-offs had constant availability.

It is an interesting question...

There was a time when I mainly drank Creemore lager in the summer & Urbock in the winter. Now they have the Pils & Keller, and while they're all consistently high quality, there's just not much diversity.

With the addition of the Oktoberfest, I could almost do Black Oak, but I'd have to seriously stock up on seasonals and drink some out-of-season. I'm missing their Porter.

LTM is top-drawer, but convenience would be the factor. I like DDC's big flavour brews, as well as Howe Sound, but I haven't been blown away by many of their sessionable brews.

With Miami Weisse in cans, Great Lakes just needs a couple more flavourful regulars and they'd be a contender (along with Project X). I thought heir Breakfast Stout was world-class... but it's not something you see in Canada, so I'm not sure how well it would sell.

Agreed. Miami Weisse is going to be a great addition. I am not sure why they have 2 Pale Ales. I would think that they'd be better served with an IPA or a Porter/Stout. They are getting there ... slowly but surely.

I'd have to go wih Flying Monkeys. They may not have the variety of some of the other brewaries yet, but they've got a great start and it seems everytime they release something it just gets better. So I guess this decision is based on future potential as well as current selection.

I want to say Unibroue, but they'd need to put out a Belgian IPA and Belgian Stout first.

As such... DDC. So much variety, and plenty of world class examples.
