Hah! I'm at home right now, in Oshawa. I've got a craving for a pint, so I'm honestly thinking of jumping on the GO train into T.O. or driving to Peterborough for a few, sleeping in my car, and driving back tomorrow morning.

Durham region is a beer wasteland. Count me in.

I hear ya. I'm in Whitby and ya it's pretty much a wasteland except for a few places that I've found. Jack Astors in Whitby has Barking Squirrel, Buffalo Wild Wing in Oshawa has Grasshopper, and the Royal Oak and Dubliner have Steamwhistle and used to carry Mill St. too.

It's a shame too because we've got County Durham Brewing right in Pickering but have to travel into the city to drink it!

Show me a petition and I'll sign it.

Used to have Gordon Biersch brewpub in that mall by the highway at least -- too bad it didn't last.

I'm also in Whitby and found Safari in Ajax also has the Barking Squirrel and Mill St. Cobblestone Stout. I just wish someone would be willing to push the envelope... or that I had the cash to open my own spot!

Totally agree, and that's kinda funny, I live in Ajax also, and that's my dream as well!!!! Since moving back here after living in the U.S. for 10 years, I am absolutely blown away by how rare it is to find a place that serves decent beer.

Safari has added Hop City's Lawn Chair Classic Weisse. Next time I am there, I am going to suggest having Durham County on tap to the owner or manager... fingers crossed!

if you are suggesting stuff ..How about Smashbomb or Spearhead Hawaiin Pale Ale...maybe something from Great Lakes...or Black Oak...I am a little like a bull in china shop so maybe your persuasion will work better than my "Why does all your beer on tap suck balls?" attempt

I don't live in the area personally, but my bro is in Ajax, whom I visit at least monthly and there is never anywhere to go to get a good pint. Let me know who the target is and I'll be sure to do my part when I'm in the area.
I don't always drink beer ... because sometimes my friends win and we have to go to macro-only establishments.
