There is no advantage to a COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT!!! ONTARIO IS COMMUNISM. RUN!sprague11 wrote:As great as Quebec is, I have friends in Gatineau that make it a point of coming to Ontario for the LCBO seasonal releases. When they hit Toronto they are amazed that selection and price at the LCBO on Cooper Street, and load up.
When the LCBO had Peche Mortel at 3 bucks a bottle I know someone who drove up from Buffalo and picked up 5 cases worth and laughed like a bandit cause Peche is over 6 bucks a bottle in Buffalo.
Definitely some advangages to the LCBO.

I brought up the Alberta system to show that it's just not Ontario and the Evil & Nasty LCBO that has issues with the Social Responsibility concept; that a free retail system we have in Alberta (which I know people in Ontario would like to happen there, in one form or t'other) is also governed by this too. As is the majority of the civilised world.JesseM wrote:You immediately went to the topic of the Alberta system when I hadn't mentioned it, accusing me of 'forgetting' about some potential 11.9% cap on beer. I hadn't forgotten anything because I was unaware in the first place. Perhaps you were just stating it as something to consider rather than 'reminding' me, in which case you should have phrased it differently.Torontoblue wrote:Chip? What chip? You appear to be the one with the chip.JesseM wrote: First of all I didn't know that. Second of all, I've never stated that Alberta has a super-duper system, I hardly know anything about Alberta's system except that it's private yet still apparently sucks. Thirdly, I wasn't talking about any province besides Ontario. So good sir if you will politely take that chip on your shoulder elsewhere, I would appreciate it.
I thought you were on the thread earlier this year with regards to the capping of beers over 11.9%.... I was mistaken...I apologise.

I doubt that the restock was from a new order - it's unlikely that they'd be able to get it across the country and processed so quickly. More likely that there was more stock in the warehouse that hadn't been sent out yet.Ale's What Cures Ya wrote:Good to see there was a restock. The twitter (or fb post, which ever it was) from Central City indicated the LCBO had place no additional orders. Nice to see that isn't true.
Which makes me wonder what was up with all the "OMG we sold out in 96 hours!!!!!" stuff earlier in the week...

For sure. If the LCBO was holding product back for a staggered release then it was definitely odd for Central City to indicate that Ontario's supply had all but vanished.GregClow wrote:I doubt that the restock was from a new order - it's unlikely that they'd be able to get it across the country and processed so quickly. Im glad a lot of you guys are finding some but this has to be one of the most disappointing releases Ive ever seen. I was pretty disappointed when the Lindemans stuff never reached Niagara but Red Racer has barely made it out of Toronto except for a few cities.
I don’t care what the U.N. says, I don’t recognize countries that don’t produce beer.
Yes, it's definitely weird that they have so much in TO (especially at one location), but not elsewhere. I managed to swing by Cooper St on my way back from Beerfest and picked up 12. If I had not been in Toronto anyways, I may have missed out.RayOhm wrote:Im glad a lot of you guys are finding some but this has to be one of the most disappointing releases Ive ever seen. I think that the overall 'privatization' lobby should take a step back. If the LCBO is privatized... it won't just make room for a whole bunch of Premier or Consumers stores... the gov't we have now will sell LCBO to the highest bidder and try to tell everyone that they made a load of money for Ontario... what will probably happen is LCBO will get sold to the highest bidders... so how do you think we'll fare for craft and imported beers if LCBO is owned by Corby's, PMA and Diageo... as TBS is owned by Molson, Labatt and Sleemans.
We need to push for looser regulations for stores, more efficient warehouses so that the consumer can be a bigger stakeholder in LCBO. Social responsibility hasn't hampered much in Ontario. If Tactical Nuclear Penguin had a large enough production run to make it to Ontario, I can't see the S.R. people coming down on it since it's going to cost $70-$100 a bottle anyhow... that won't promote reckless drinking.
More efficient warehouses will mean that I don't have to drive 800km roundtrip or wait an extra 6 weeks for my 10 cases of Red Racer to get transferred from central to Durham warehouse.
Keep the LCBO. Run it better. Let the NDP form the government on October 6th and we can see that happen.
(no Steelback... this is not communism... putting a bridle on unrestricted greed is sensible politics and sensible business).

Paul is the purchaser for the Laughing Buddha and Townehouse Tavern in Sudbury. A great combination of live independent music, good food and interesting beers. 2 bars, 440 seats, 15 taps, 120 bottles, 40 Whiskies and the best patio around.

I don't think anyone in their right mind supports the simple privatization of the LCBO. That would be, as you allude to, a disaster. A private system that allows entrepreneurs to open privately owned stores where the owner of the store is the last decision maker on what he stocks is what the "privatization lobby" supports.Paul at the Buddha wrote:I think that the overall 'privatization' lobby should take a step back. Yeah, that worked out really well the last time the NDP formed the Ontario government.Paul at the Buddha wrote: Let the NDP form the government on October 6th and we can see that happen.

It would appear there are some new locations that have red racer in stock, unless these are special orders or in store transfers:

If you are road tripping dont forget to phone ahead and ask, shelf or held.

When the product circular for this product came to LCBO stores there was a list for every store slated to get this product saying that those stores would be shipped 2 cases. My store (yonge and eg) was one of them. These never came, instead they shipped over 2000 units to Queens Quay. So I wrote the category manager last week asking why they even bother sending out these lists if they send it all to Cooper St. I also mentioned that people have come in asking when its coming to which my response was "soon we are on a list of stores to get it" so now there is zero chance this will be at Yonge and Elginton which means the people who were waiting on this now have to go out of their way to get some when in fact there is more than enough (currently over 1400 units at Queens Quay) to go around, and not just to Toronto. So I have yet to receive a response but when I do I will post that info here. Its extremely frustrating because the LCBO clearly only values a handful of stores and doesn't give a shit about the rest of them.
