Satuday night:

SA Octoberfest (2011)

SA Bonfire Rauchbier - little early but wanted to try it, nice brew, reminds me of a smoking barbecue on a cool October day. Lots of things going on here.

Sunday:

Probably Rogue Chipotle with barbecued chicken fajitas.

How was it? I had it on tap right after its release and it was awesome (very hoppy though). I have a bottle in the basement that I have been sitting on and wondering if I should crack it soon.

It's still quite hoppy, especially on the nose, though the hops have died down a little on the palate since I last tried it in April. The roasted flavours are coming through a lot more now leaving a nice dry, bitter long finish. Still a fair bit of alcohol coming through too.

Got one bottle left which I'll crack open next year.

In Ottawa over the weekend, a Tsingtao at a superlative restaurant, Bambuu, which is in a recently developed area on the edge of the general airport. The beer was extremely fresh and first-rate.

At the Granite back in Toronto, its cask IPA which has never been better with the East Kent Goldings singing a clear and unmistakable tune.

GR Pugnacious Pale Ale. I think this has instantly become my favourite Grand River beer! Excellent stuff.

At the cottage:

Red Racer
Smashbomb
Double Dead Guy
Publican House Square Nail Pale Ale
Beau's Fesitvale
Fuller's London Porter

Not beer-related (except in consumption) I picked up some Maple Dale Private Reserve 6 year old Cheddar, 8 year Smoked Cheddar and a big wedge of their trusty 2 year. Also picked up some Roaring Forties, which I'm very excited about as I have yet to try it.

It was hard to come home. Shitty drive too!

I think cheese is as "beer related" as any food can be...Never feel that you have to conditionally talk about cheese. Can't imagine what that 8yr old smoked would taste like though...yum!!!

Just finished off a Great Divide Smoked Baltic Porter...this seems to get mixed reviews, but I think it may be one of my favourite smoke beers...going to try my bottle of 120 minute ipa.

I visited Beau's today, picked up a pair of Growlers: Festivale and Helles. Got some rad Mugs too.

Man, wish I could eat cheese effectively.

just poured myself a few ounces of the 120 minute...I'm kinda afraid of it...

I think I like it but it's hard to tell because my taste buds are kind of peeling away...I think I like it though...

Over The weekend, New Belgium Fat Tire (finally), New Glarus Belgian Red (mmmmm) and 21st Ammendment Brew Free or Die which was vinegary and off-tasting. Supposed to be that way? I doubt it. Date was April 2011.

Galt Knife Lager on draft at Wvrst on King Street. I've had many lagers from around the world including its home countries and this lager is just perfect, fresh-tasting, delicious, and gratefully bitter.

Rob, don't change anything.
