I was at Shoppers yesterday looking at the vitamin section, and they sell these tablets called 'Brewers Yeast' for 7.99 a bottle. It claimed to be Saccharomyces cerevisia, and my question is, could it be used for homebrewing?
I'm mainly just curious as I haven't got into homebrewing yet. Is 7.99 a good price? Looked like there was a lot of tablets in the bottle.

Nutritional yeasts are deactivated. AKA He's dead, Jim. So they are of no use in brewing.JesseM wrote:I was at Shoppers yesterday looking at the vitamin section, and they sell these tablets called 'Brewers Yeast' for 7.99 a bottle. Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Apparently my wife told me they are good for pregnant women. Like hops is good for menstrual pains, anxiety, insomnia... I can attest to the hops since I still do the odd Bodum infusion to combat insomnia and it works wonders... But yeast... Yeah some people love natural medicines.
Edit: fresh whole hops... Not pellets
