Flying Monkey Smashbomb IPA
IMHO maximum "taste/flavour per bottle" is the key and since I like to drink a LOT of beer, I love lower alcohol beers so I can walk after 7-10 pints. If Smashbomb tasted the same and was 3.5% I'd be in volume beer drinking heaven!Brewbert wrote:Be better if they didn't lower it to 6%. kinda weak, good taste though. This thing needs it 7% back imo.
Grand River is the king of this concept with beers like Mill Race Mild...SO MUCH flavour - so little alcohol 3.5%.
If I want/need to get drunk faster I have some OP rum in the cabinet.

Managed to get my hands on this twice at my local LCBO (or at least the good one in town). Both times I had to get it from the back room. The first time, I directed a friend later in the day to the store and it still wasn't on the shelf but they refused to get any for him. The second time, they had over 60 showing in stock online but I still had to talk them into selling me 3 six packs from the back room.
Planning a trip to Barrie in the coming weeks just to bypass the pain that the LCBO has become lately. Plus this way I can get beer that has been refrigerated the entire time.
I must say, Mad Tom IPA has been a good substitute while I wait for more Smashbomb.

Yeah, I think Mad Tom needs some love in our now crazy Smashbomb world. Plus Harvest Ale is coming soon which will be awesome! (If anyone's tried this years from the brewery yet, please post a review. I'm dying to try it...)MrManic wrote: I must say, Mad Tom IPA has been a good substitute while I wait for more Smashbomb.
Just thinking how cool if it would be if Muskoka and FM did a collaboration IPA.

Gonna third the love for Mad Tom, which has really grown on me since its inception. Given the frustrating dearth of Smashbomb these days, I've glommed onto Tom and will continue to buy it very often once (if?) the 'Bomb becomes more regularly available. Kudos Muskoka (and like others, looking forward to the Harvest Ale).JeffPorter wrote:Yeah, I think Mad Tom needs some love in our now crazy Smashbomb world. Like sitting on the shelf unfrefridgerated because people that the LCBO dont understand beer bitter.TheSevenDuffs wrote:Thanks. My batch is bottled August 17, 2011. Man that stuff was so freakin good I drank like 6 of them each night. I brought them up north with me to my cottage lol. I also passed by the brewery in barry on my way up and bought 4 bottles of super collider (omg)TheSevenDuffs wrote:You go through a LOT of smash bomb! This stuff tastes like piss compared to that last batch. but i'll drink it, against my religion to waste beer.
I may just be a retard though, I've been sniffling a bit today maybe I'm getting a cold and my tastebuds are wacked, but I just had a bottle of Lagunitas MAximus IPA out of a 6 pack I got in Buffalo when I went over the border yesterday and then went to this and it tastes sour... -shrug-

I agree. I picked up a 6 with an Aug. 17 date around the 24th or 25th, and these bottles are not nearly as good as the single bottle with a July date on it that I had a few weeks ago. After buying 2 6'es from the first batch (June date), which were both letdowns, that is now 18 of 19 bottles that I've bought that have not lived up to the hype. Very disappointing.Brewbert wrote:I thought so too.. till I tasted it just now. Tastes like crap compared to the last batch wth. Tastes old... and a little bitter. Not good hops bitter.
