I liked all the brews, but my favourites were the porter and the IPA. The cask was very nice, and had an intense wild strawberry character. Now that I hear "wild hops" it all make sense. Anyway, nice night, insanely crowded at times...yeah, INSANELY crowded at times...but, yeah, good. I know these comments come ad nauseum, but "it'd be really nice to see that porter or IPA become a general list LCBO item...".
ALSO, what ever became of the Facebook promised:
Radishe du cheval
My bitter wife
Karma citra tickla
French Saison with ginger
Damn.

Yes, yes, and YES! Please Ontario brewers, no flavourings are necessary if you've got a great stout/porter base!G.M. Gillman wrote:The GL porter, an impressive 7% ABV, was the best beer IMO. Clean rich traditional taste. I'd put out that one as a permanent amongst all I tried and it proves IMO that really good porter does not need coffee, chocolate or fruit additions.

Interesting that there was some wild Ontario hops in the cask pale ale. The beer reminded me of fresh cask ales on the West Coast made from local (e.g. Oregon) varieties. Maybe there is an essential "North Americaness" to hops grown on this Continent regardless of lineage.
Certainly it's a classic golden cask beer of the modern craft beer movement, it's only in the last couple of years or so that this has been perfected here. Granite's IPA has the colour but has always tasted essentially English. Hop Addict was one of the first I'd say of the (golden) APA beers to be made here.
I did taste the beer using Citra hops by the way. Good of its type but I don't find Citra all that different from other West Coast varieties, it has a similar citric (hence the name?) intensity to Cascade or Centennial, say, IMO again.

Time: 6:30-930pm
Where: Great Lakes Brewery (30 Queen Elizabeth Blvd, Toronto)
Hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Zack

Kama Stoutra (Toronto Brewing x Great Lakes x Toronto Beer Week) Curry Stout Collaboration brew will be at Volo tonight!
The February Project X event was great! I really enjoyed the Pompous Ass on cask. Robohop found its way into my glass more than once.
The food was terrific, and a big thanks to the chef who was outside working the grill. Too bad the rink wasn't ready but the Leafs game on the "big" screens more than made up for it.
Thanks!

Thanks!

That was my first time visiting Project X, and it was a great time!
But now I feel like a dummy for not realizing there was a fourth Project X beer, Robohop on offer! Why didn't I ask about the robocop tap? What kind of beer is it, btw?
I did manage to snag 2 of the last 3 Morning, Morning coffee stouts, so that will soothe me later this weekend.
And agreed, Pompous Ass was really good. I wished I had a bigger glass for that. Mulled Winter Ale was pretty cool too... nice soft gingerbread flavour.
