I don't know if anyone mentioned that Volo last Friday (and maybe still, not sure) had Mill Street's ESB on cask. It was excellent, as good as Fuller's I thought with an authentic real ale taste. It reminded me of the very first (in modern times) real ale served in Toronto. This was from the old Upper Canada Brewery and served from a wooden pin behind the bar at the old Joe Allen restaurant downtown. (We are going back about 15 years at least). Babbages in the Beaches also had that UC cask ale.
The Mill St. ESB comes out very well on cask and I hope we'll see more of it either at Volo or Mill St. itself.
Of recent fine cask ales in Toronto I'd rank together Fuller ESB, the Mill St. ESB, Durham's XXX (and the rare Durham ESB when on cask instead of nitro) and Neustadt Porter. Also, The Granite's beers of course. I missed Iron Duke at C'est What, I'm sure it was very good. County Ale on cask as sampled at Feathers was good too recently although somewhat lighter and less complex than I remember it.
