Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). I believe this is a check point within the US, not a country border. It's mostly to see if you're an illegal immigrant. This American Life did a podcast on it which was interesting indeed.
