The guys behind Something in the Water brewery made it onto Dragon's Den and pitched a "brewery franchise" concept. Some positivity for their beer but some struggles around the business and the dragons opted out.
A funny story around this: my wife has a small business and pursued an appearance on Dragon's Den. She made it to the in-person auditions which took place early last year at the CBC studio in Toronto. It's a bit of a surreal experience as the auditions all take place in the big atrium simultaneously, so everyone is auditioning in front of producers next to other competitors with very little privacy.
So my wife was getting to audition (I was there for moral support) and who appears right next to us is the Something in the Water guys. I have to say that the fish mascot definitely stood out, although I thought it was a bit odd. But perhaps the fish helped as they made it on the show! I overheard some of their pitch and was kind of skeptical about a 'brewery franchise' but they made it on so good for them. A bit of a reality check on the show though.
Plus, one of the dragons is also dead wrong about breweries licensing their recipes which happens all the time.

Cool....I mean Big Rig and 3 Brewers offer franchises...so not a totally novel idea, but kudos to trying.
