An old ale of Flanders, aged 20 months in oak. It tastes of oak and lightly acidulous from the resident microflora, but nothing as much as Rodenbach. The Pertrus is more approachable, for those who find Roddy too much. I liked it but ended up blending it with Fuller's London Porter, to approximate more a 19th century, lactic-influenced porter. I like a sweetish malty top-fermented taste with accents of acidity: the blend offers this to perfection.
