Neustadt Springs VS-55 Shampoo Lager

Post by GregClow »

Yes, you read the subject line right. That really is the name of the newest Neustadt beer, which is now on tap at C'est What. It was brewed to mark the 55th birthday of brewery co-owner Val Stimpson, which explains the "VS-55" part. As for the "Shampoo" part, your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway, I had a pint of this 5.5% lager this afternoon, and here's what I wrote about it on RateBeer:

Colour is a nice, clear golden with a decent white head. Aroma is primarily malty. Flavour is OK, quite well-balanced, but nothing mindblowing. The finish is mellow, with not quite enough hops for my taste. It’s a solid lager, certainly better than most macros & macro-wannabes, but I think I prefer their flagship beer to this one.

Bought a 12 at the brewery. This is probably the best lager from this brewer. Lots of biscuit dough maltiness and finish...mellow and drinkable without being too thin. Too bad it isn't available all year.

Anyone know if this is still available on draft @ Cest What? Am also curious where to get a pint of the Scottish Ale.
