Let us know which bars are ordering these. I would like to check them out but not enough to buy a case to myself. (Although if anyone wants to split a case of the Gulden Draak give me a holler)Rubaiyat wrote:RUBAIYAT

The Floris Chocolat isn't even remotely similar to those other two beers. It's not a stout, but rather a light wheat beer with some sickly sweet chocolate added. Here's the review I wrote when I tried it a couple of years ago, at which point it had the dubious distinction of being the absolute lowest rated beer at RateBeer.com (a spot that is now held by Ontario's own Steelback Tango!):El Pinguino wrote:I'd be happy to know where this may be showing up as well....I have a weakness for the Rogue Chocolat stout and have recently been enjoying the chocolate cherry stout from Black Oak......wonder how this compares?

"I'll admit my bias up front - given its RateBeer reputation as "the world's worst beer", I fully expected to hate this one from the get-go. But I tried as much as I could to set those feelings aside for the sake of providing an honest opinion. I opened the bottle, took a whiff, and found it somewhat pleasant in an odd sort of way. Poured a small glass for my wife (who has a huge sweet tooth) and myself - nice colour, but no head to speak of. Another whiff - the chocolate is a little more cloying and artificial smelling now. First taste - very strange, like chocolate pudding mixed with flat ginger ale, but not as horrible as I thought it might be. Second taste - sweet, and not in an especially good way. Third taste - y'all were right, this is some nasty-ass stuff. Even my chocolate addicted wife couldn't stand more than a few sips. To the drain with you, Floris Chocolat!"
That being said - I've seen people enjoying this beer at Smokeless Joe on more than one occassion, and it's worth trying at least once if only for the sake of curiousity. Just don't expect anything big and rich and roasty.
