Upper Canada Pale Ale - Anyone tried it?
Upper Canada Pale Ale - Anyone tried it?
Upper Canada beers are usually OK - not great but decent enough session beers - and I'm into American Pale Ales at the moment. Unfortunately at my local beer store they only sell the new UC Pale Ale in 12 packs and that's 20 something bucks - all my weekend beer money. No other Beer Stores are within a 30 minute drive so before I fork out for a 12 pack have any of you tried it and what did you think? How is it going with the hops?
Thanks
Thanks
This product will be introduced Monday July 8th.

That would be a nice blast from the past. If I'm not mistaken, the original UC Pale Ale was derived from the recipe for Beaver Valley Amber Ale, a short-lived contract brew for the Thornbury Brewing Company. Unfortunately, the business plan for TBC fell through before they could bring the production in-house. It would have been pretty cool to have a brewery 4 blocks from where I grew up, but it was not to be...I remember the original Cascade hop-based version. I'm assuming this new one will not follow that same recipe.
I saw it yesterday at my local Beer Store.Mother G wrote:This product will be introduced Monday July 8th.

Did you see an actual package of the beer, or just a listing on the big board? I've had several experiences with a beer being listed on the board at my local store for a week or two before it is actually in stock.Philip1 wrote:I saw it yesterday at my local Beer Store.

Or three months as in the case of Tiverton's Blue Thunder but that is not the fault of TBSGregClow wrote:Did you see an actual package of the beer, or just a listing on the big board? I've never seen a big board listing at The Beer Store. I saw the actual 12 packs with Upper Canada Pale Ale printed on them. There were only 2 of them sitting on an otherwise empty shelf in Orangeville yesterday - June 30.GregClow wrote:Did you see an actual package of the beer, or just a listing on the big board? Well, their radio commercials do say that they make a fresh batch of Blue Thunder only once a month, so you have to grab if before it's gone!Rob Creighton wrote:Or three months as in the case of Tiverton's Blue Thunder but that is not the fault of TBS
Hello bartowlers,
As you aware Upper Canada has made a comeback in the beer industry. The Pale ale is going on tap at some interesting craft beer houses ie: Smokeless Joe's and C'est what. Cascade and East Kent are used in this beer. I will drink this since I have recently sampled the Pale from a 12-pack from the beer store. Also, noted that I tried to pick up another 12 from Queens Quay and the assistant manager told me they sold out 20-12packs within 36 hours. Shameless plug, you decide. Hey Derr!
