Downtown Kitchener Ribfest & Craft Beer Show

Post by Beer Geek »

I just heard some info on this year’s Downtown Kitchener Ribfest & Craft Beer Show. It’s set for July 17-19 and will be held at Victory Park in downtown Kitchener. I think this is such a perfect location for beer, BBQ and live music. Most of the students are gone which means less drunken frat boys. Looks like they’ve grown to 10 breweries this year:

Better Bitters Brewing Company
Brick Brewing Co.
Cameron's Brewing Company
F&M Brewery
Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery
Mill Street Brewery
Railway City Brewing Company
Steelback Brewing
Trafalgar Ales & Meads
Wellington Brewery

Yes, that’s right Steelback is coming. I must say I was a little shocked when I heard this, but honestly, I would never go out of my way to buy their product, so this is a good opportunity to try their beer.

I still remember going to this event a few years ago when I think there were only 4 breweries, nice to see it growing and adding a couple new breweries every year. Now only if we had a decent beer bar to attract more breweries.

To the K-W bartowelers (or all bartowelers coming I guess), we should organize a day & time to meet up.

Wait, what, no Grand River?

But yeah I'll probably be there.

I didn't even notice that, I guess I just assumed they were there and never thought twice about it. I wonder why?

Beer Geek, don't let your prejudices from the D'Angelo days taint your opinion of the current Steelback. While their beers are fairly mainstream, they've improved greatly, and are quite drinkable now.

Yeah I'm with Greg.
Heck, I just spent $21.00 on two six packs of theirs, and was actually glad I did.
If you`re reading this, there`s a 15% chance you`ve got a significant drinking problem. Get it fixed, get recovered!

Sounds like to me he has an open mind about them coming.

Thanks for the info BeerGeek, I'm looking forward to checking out the local show!

No Grand River (apparently) is pretty disappointing though, as they are scarce in K-W to begin with - didn't Rob mention in years past that this event conflicts with another summer beer event?
