Port of Whitby Brewing Company?
I have an update from David Draper, the Owner of the Brewery. His reply to my inquiry is below.
"Thank you for your interest. We are not yet open. All of the equipment is purchased but we have yet to find a suitable building. I will update the site as things progress."

Very interesting. Could it be that the "Big Guys" have hatched a scheme to build anticipation for this new brewery with the end result being a "Grand Opening" offering free transportation, all the fresh, tasty beer you can drink and sumptious victuals in an effort to rid themselves of us "Matrix Bustin' Bartowellers". Perhaps the fate that would befall us is mass drowning in a tank of generic swill. No, that sounds paranoid. Or does it?

Well, I like the "Big Guys" idea but unfortunately no. I'm Dave of the Port... We have run into some real issues with the Town here over zoning. We had actually leased a site last year but it never got approved by the planning department. As soon as I can find an industrial unit we will be open. You can read what Ian Bowering thought of my ale in The Great Lakes Brewing News this month.
Cheers!

Thanks for your response Mister Mad Brewer. I look forward to you finding a home in the Whitby area soon as I find myself down that way often. It is rather disappointing that the Town of Whitby is giving you grief over zoning when it appears to me that rampant residential growth occurs throughout Whitby virtually unchecked. Keep up the good fight.

Zoning is a real pain for a brewery, our first location took ages to find. It was Supposed to be on the east side of Toronto and ended up on the Etobicoke border. I have to give Oakville Economic Development credit, they actually contacted us to see if we needed any help during our move to Oakville.
Good luck Dave.
