It's pretty clear to me, Sammy - all the breweries will be bringing new or one-off beers to the festival.northyorksammy wrote:•All beers are either unique to the festival or brand-new flavours
i do not know what that means or promises,
Hardly - there have been plenty of beer, wine and spirit events at the Berkeley Church. The first Brewers Plate was there a few years ago, and the folks behind this event - who are also behind the Wine & Spirits Festival at the Distillery - have done a several events there in the past.northyorksammy wrote:but I have not heard great things about the management in this place , and they are venturing into new ground here
Not to mention that the management of the venue really have very little to do with the event. It's being organized and presented by an outside company who are simply using the space.

can you guarantee that? Why would they do it if not marketing more strongly to the beer geeks? The average person out there is not as particular to new beers, just new beers they have not tried. would they have more new beers to offer than say at a Volo event?

Of course I can't, I'm not the organizer of the event! I'm just passing on the information that's been provided.northyorksammy wrote:"It's pretty clear to me, Sammy - all the breweries will be bringing new or one-off beers to the festival. "--

For those who only care about getting new ratings, it's already been confirmed that there will be at least one beer completely exclusive to the event - a dunkel being brewed by Great Lakes in collaboration with Scott Rondeau, the event organizer. And there are several other breweries involved that are well known for doing unique one-off beers, so the odds are good they'll have something different.
Otherwise - maybe all of the brewers will bring brand new beers, maybe they won't. But they're all good breweries, so there will be great beer available either way.

Fair enough. I'm just not getting why you're criticizing/doubting this event before it even happens just based on the venue.northyorksammy wrote:"For those who only care about getting new ratings"
perhaps the tone can become something like: 'for most Bar Towellers, whom are interested in trying something new'
FWIW, the organizer was one of the original founders of Toronto Festival of Beer, when it had more of a craft/micro focus, and he has remained interested in craft beer ever since. The event may not be aimed purely at beer geeks - if it was, it would be held somewhere a hell of a lot smaller - but the intention appears to be to appeal to them along with the larger group of people who may not be hardcore, but are still interested in trying new things.
The Facebook page for the Toronto Wine & Spirit Festival has details on what some of the breweries are bringing:
Great Lakes Gardog Dunkelweisen and Sweet Pete's Peach Wheat
Mill Street Rauchbier
Cameron's Ginger Ale
Flying Monkeys Smashbomb and Cookies & Cream Ale
Beau's Night Marzen
So the answer is that there will be a mix of one-offs and previously available (but not very common) beers. They also posted on Friday to say that it will likely sell-out, so any fence sitters might want to buy their tickets. I'm now officially looking forward to this.
