Summer Festival of Craft Breweries @ C'est What - Jun 21-25
From this month's C'est What email newsletter...
1st Annual Summer Festival of Craft Breweries
Usually, the weekend after Victoria Day we fill our coolers way past capacity, feed the staff a lot of coffee, and present our Spring Festival Of Craft Breweries. This year we are mixing things up and holding a five-day Festival running from Tuesday June 21 to Saturday June 25.
If you were to guess that we are moving the Festival to coincide with the first anniversary of the Toronto G-20 Summit, you would be wrong. Although we are very pleased that fiasco is far behind us, we are even happier with the prospect of Ontario Craft Beer Week, June 19 to 25.
A total of 26 beers will be available to sample each of the first three nights at the original bar. Each night we will be featuring about a dozen new draughts and three new casks in addition to selections from our usual line-up. On Friday we will throw open all of our taps to sampling with around forty flavours available. We will post a list of each night's sampling menu as we approach the Festival. As usual, most samples will cost a loonie.
On the Saturday we are presenting The Great Beer Chaser, no sampling, but $4 glasses / $6 pints (tax-in) of all of the leftovers that we can rotate through (not our regular brews) all day long.
Five days, eighty brews, best to start training.

I passed by after work, not realizing a festival was on. I stayed on the non-fest side of C'est What but all the fest beers were available by the pint there.
I tried Barley Days Dark Ale Cask, which was excellent, not dissimilar to the bottle but more nuanced and fresh in every way, and the dry-hopped Plowman's Ale from Grand River. The Plowman's in this form had a big twang from an unusual (for me) hop. I'd wager an Ontario-grown one. Excellent again.
A number of the casks were flavoured, e.g., with blueberry, papaya, chocolate. Not my thing but people seemed to like them.
