best wheat beer available in the GTA?

Post by Brewbert »

I need a good wheat brew for the summer. No mass produced swill please (lol keiths/rickards white) Hoegaarden is so delicious but I've drank it too much,

I'm havin some buddies over for a bbq next weekend and I need a good wheat beer to have on a nice summers day. ABV doesn't matter, we're big guys so a higher abv is always preferred, but like i said it's not really an issue.

I've also had aventinus' wheat brew, the 8% one that's pretty good.

Any other suggestions?!

Two beers you can get at the LCBO this summer that are great are Denison's Weissbier, and Dominus Vobiscum Blanche from Charlevoix. I prefer the Charlevoix brew, but it's a bit more expensive. Either one is great, though!

The Magnotta WunderWeisse is pretty good if you can find it. Between TBS & LCBO, there's actually quite a few German Hefe's.

It was sold out at the brewery when I was in, all though there is supposed to be more coming soon, and it is in a few LC's

Local brewed - I really like Denisons on tap, but it loses something in canned format.

Bottles at the LCBO - Weihenstephaner

The Schneider Wiezen Edel-Weisse (sp?) is really nice.

Organic too, so you know it's good for you!

I had a billion fresh pints or bottles of Weizen in Germany, many very good, I'm a bit wheated-out now... MEMMINGER was outstanding.

Still, the Dominus Vobiscum Blanche is more than just a good Belgian wheat, it's outstanding beer, period. There are cheaper options but none equivalent.

Agreed. Easily in my top 2-3 favourite Belgian wits.
