Caplansky's closed for a week (to 26th)

Post by Belgian »

In case anyone was heading down for some Montreal Smoked & a pint this week, be advised Zane Caplan(sky) is doing some short-term renovation on his popular Deli resto.

Closed 21st to 26th, windows papered and notice posted. I'm feeling pangs of withdrawal...

Has the meat improved?

Is it back to it's former smokey greatness?

About two out of three sandwiches is great by my standards.

They still mess it up sometimes. Completely cold sandwich, stringy or rubbery meat, very slow service. Still not bad by Toronto standards.

Those weren't pangs of withdrawl. Check out their dinesafe history :o :o

We can hope that the renos were mainly to the kitchen (although he did get some neon installed).

Stopped by Caplansky's last night for a snack after an ill fated trip to Burger Bar ( see Burger Bar thread for details ) but we were told at 10 pm that they were closed. I thought Caplansky's were open much later.

Given that this thread was started specifically to discuss the temporary closure of Caplansky's, I'm going to close it now, and encourage anyone who wants to discuss the place further to use this earlier Caplansky's thread:
