California recommendations not available in Buffalo
A friend of mine is grabbing a few beers for me in Los Angeles. I made a request for some Pliny, but they may not be in stock for a while at his local. Any recommendations around the same pricepoint that we can't readily get in Buffalo (Stone, Firestone Walker, etc...)?

I did have a Ballast Point Imperial Porter last week with Streets that was incredible, I'll inquire about the others, I've only had one Alesmith before too.andrewrg wrote:I would ask for anything from Alpine, although their distribution outside of the San Diego area is spotty. Other than that, Ballast Point and Alesmith are good choices.

See if they can get you some Blue Frog Grog & Grill DIPA, HERETIC Evil Twin or Evil Cousin, Drake's Brewing do some good stuff, too, and maybe some Knee Deep Brewing. All pretty solid California breweries that I got just up to road in Santa Barbara, so they should be available in LA.

Lost Abbey can turn out to be an expensive error in judgement.

True, this is what I stuck with and didn't go near their sour or wild ales.
