This is pretty great.

The threat backfired hilariously of course, enough to make you wonder if Labatt wasn't just after the attention. And now we have this:

You would think if any brewery would be upset, it would be Magnotta.

So we're all talking about Labatt.

Seems like PR success to me.

It's a long way from hot air balloons, bimbos and dock parties...
Brands are for cattle.
Fans are cash cows.

And us doing this is going to translate into sales for them how?

Streisand effect, I hadn't heard about this before. On Twitter it is apparently being called the #NewLabattCampaign

I wouldn't worry too much if I were Magnotta (the winery) Their wines suck as it is.

What is the deal with the wine? I'm not a wine guy, so I won't comment on the quality, but the LCBO initially refused to list it... but according to that article:
It's now the third largest winery by sales in Ontario, the LCBO is entirely onboard and according to the company's site, it's won over 3,500 awards for its wines, including nearly 50 national and international honours last year alone.
It's too bad their beer Empire didn't work out. I think brew some decent stuff.

yeah - but at least it leaves the wort for us, for some quick homebrews! :P

Define "What's the deal?" They only sell (i think) from their own stores. I have only tried a handful, none wowed but the ones I tried were okay. We served one of their sparkling VQA whites at our wedding for champagne. Its okay for the price, particularly since our alternative choices were more than double the price!

They did an "ice cider" that was actually surprisingly good, and excellent bang for buck. Their ice wines have won a bunch of awards.

I was going to ask, are Magnotta wines VQA?
