Camping Beers

Post by Stabby »

It's camping season, and I'd like to expand my list of good camping beers!

I usually end up with Muskoka Cream Ale, Mill St Tankhouse, and a good wheat beer like Unibroue Blanche de Chambly. Anyone else have some favourites that they'd like to suggest?

There's a thread somewhere about camping beers, but I tend to stick to beer that comes in cans - less breakage, they chill faster, etc...

Crazy Canuck is often a go-too for me.. some others I bring are:

Mad Tom (now that they're in cans!)
Muskoka Dark (good for camp chili, too)
Red Racer
Denisons Weiss

And now I'd probably bring some Hops and Robbers and some Wellington Impy stout (that would be good in camp chili too, I'd bet!)

If only Red Racer wasn't so damn expensive, I'd love to take it camping with me! But yeah, definitely Mad Tom and Crazy Canuck are very good strong IPAs to go camping with, and it doesn't even matter if they get warm after all the ice melts!

I can also tell you what NOT to bring:

a corked, bottle-conditioned bomber, such as let's say, I don't know, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, that's been jostling around the car for four hours!

Cans, the best thing that's happened to craft beer since Bar Volo!

Mad Tom and Red Racer in cans. muskoka Cream Ale seems like it would be a good bet too - it's improved a lot.

If I'm camping in the States I've grabbed sly Fox Pils and Dale's pale Ale in Cans. Most places i go frown upon bottles.

$2.45 + 10¢ deposit... for anyone curious what hellishly expensive means in Ontario.
