Best Before dates on Trappist Beers

Post by El Pinguino »

Alright, so I kept getting random answers in the different places I looked in terms of 'how old is my Westmalle' beer.

Some people have said Westmalle bottles are bottled 2,3, or 4 years before their printed best before date.

Well....the last answer I had here was 2 years and it appears to be correct.

For handy reference, I found this link. It's in Dutch, so just Google translate it. The guys seems to know his stuff. He has a handy chart for determining when your Achel, Chimay, La Trape, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle or Wesvleteren was bottled. (Some do, of course, put this info on their bottles)

Thought some people might find this useful.
