This is a long shot... anyone know if you can get any decent beer once you're through security at the airport? I have a friend that's heading down and only bringing carry on. -.-

There's an Anchor bar, Terminal 3 Boarding Area F near Gate 70, Post-Security
Hours: Daily, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

There's also SF Uncork'd there, too, selling wines & craft ales, and a Gordon Biersch.

Going to tour San Francisco and surrounding area in July. Any recommendations on places to stay?

I already have a pretty lengthy list of beer things to do, but feel free to throw out some suggestions. There so much to do there I'm sure I've missed a bunch of hot spots!

I haven't been in a couple of years, but my reco is to not stay downtown, it's not great. I've stayed at a B&B in the Sunset area near Golden Gate Park & Haight/Ashbury and it's awesome. Much better to be in the 'hoods rather than the downtown hotel district IMO.
