Neustadt Springs Brewery Open House

You are invited to Neustadt Springs Brewery (456 Jacob St., Neustadt) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the oldest operating brewery building in Ontario.

On Saturday, August 15th, Neustadt Springs will open its doors to the community of family, friends and beer lovers from all over to celebrate the brewery's history. Brewery owners Val and Andy Stimpson have invited the brewery's original founding family - the Huether Clan - from all over the world to attend the historic celebration.

The 22,000 square foot brewery building was originally built in 1859 by Henry Huether who opened the Crystal Springs Brewery over the source of one of Canada's clearest spring waters, which still flows through a network of caverns beneath the brewery today. The building is essentially unchanged since 1869 and has always operated as a brewery, apart from closing down during prohibition when it was a creamery, egg grading station, town hall and dance hall.

Neustadt Springs was opened in 1997 by Val and Andy Stimpson who had immigrated to Ontario from England. This award-winning brewery is nestled in the heart of one of "Canada's prettiest villages" (according to Harrowsmith in 2000), a rural and picturesque village steeped in tradition.

Neustadt Springs is enjoying great success as an Ontario Craft Brewery and has won numerous prestigious honours, including a recent gold medal for its 10W30 from this year's Mondial de la Biere, the largest international beer festival in the world.

We hope you can get away from the city to join Val and Andy for a great day of fun and tradition. There are plenty of wonderful places to stay or visit in Neustadt, around Grey/Bruce County and on the shores of the great Lake Huron.
