I've always been a fan of the Whirlwind, and was not disappointed with the batch we got here. A great brew - hopefully it will sell well for the LCBO. As for the Ur-Weisse, I tried it at Joe's and was pleasantly surprised. I guess I didn't have high expectations for this one, as it was better than I...

I'm happy to announce that the Bar Towel discussion forum has just celebrated its first anniversary. I believe it launched around June 21st of last year. I think the forum has been very successful over the last year, and we've built a great group of beer lovers in and around the Toronto area. Person...

The Consignment Program is a way by which importers can sell certain beers direct to consumers, that aren't usually stocked at LCBOs. There is a page on this site that lists the beers currently available through Esprit & Rubiyat (http://www.bartowel.com/consignment.phtml). I don't know who repre...

I find that one of the most accessed pages on this website is the profile of Smokeless Joe. As such, I have updated the profile, with new text and a bunch of new pics. This has been long overdue - enjoy.

Very nice, thanks! I've placed the PDF on The Bar Towel for permanent download (about 3.5 megs): http://www.bartowel.com/regions/pubs/biermenu.pdf Too bad about Saturday, but I'm sure I'll be back again soon and we'll try to chat. <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: cass on 2002-06-22 14:41 ...

I had some of the Whirlwind this week - great stuff. If only I could get out of work in time to enjoy any on the patio!

I expect it is the one from Greene King, as we have seen another beer from them in Ontario before.

No idea about why no Oktoberfest beers. I don't recall seeing many released over the last number of years...I guess the LCBO doesn't consider it to be a style/theme worth releasing...

It's funny you should mention the Jane/Dundas location. Out of curiousity I called the LCBO infoline today to see if any stores had the Victory Whirlwind (it's now listed on their website). They told me that only one store had any - Jane and Dundas, and they had 5 cases in stock! I called the store,...

I was saving this for my planned seminar at the St. Lawrence beer show, but since that didn't happen (see other thread), here's some juicy beer news for everyone. I have received from the LCBO the full listings of the next two beer releases, scheduled for September and November: September: Pinkus Mu...

For those who attended on Saturday, I'm sorry to say that I did not give my seminar as planned. The festival itself was quite informal, and I didn't feel it was appropriate to give a seminar on a subject such as the imported beer selection in Ontario. The speakers' mic was in fact on the band stage,...

Just a reminder that I will be giving a seminar on the beer selection in Ontario and why the LCBO makes the decisions that it does - 5pm on Saturday at the St. Lawrence fest.

I think a Bartowel evening out would be a great idea. I agree Saturday is too short notice, but I will probably be going to the Esplanade after the St. Lawrence fest if anyone wants to say hi and have a drink. I agree with Peter, all the regular contributors would probably be able to squeeze into Sm...

I'd be more than happy to set up a couple of pages on the site for the Smokeless' and the Bier Markt's menus, similar to what I did for Premier Gourmet's beer listing. Biers4all - if you could scan in your menu and e-mail me the files (cass@bartowel.com), I'd be happy to set up a page where they can...
