Creemore is my favorite Canadian beer.
I'll have to rethink that.
The Old Brown in the Petrus gift pack is considered by many - including some famous beer writers who shall remain anonymous - one of the best examples of "barley wine" out of belgium. The other two beers in that gift pack are not necessarily as "famous" but are still held in high regard.
The Jenlain is considered by many - including some famous beer writers who shall remain anonymous - one of the best examples of the limited group that is French Biere de Garde.
Anyhow, to each his own I guess.
Cheers,
Paul

Sheryl and I made a trek down to the Queen's Quay store today and were disappointed by the poor selection of the Stouts & Porters release. The only ones we saw were Marston's Oyster, Smuttynose Robust Porter and Old Growler.
We then headed up to the St. Lawrence location on Front Street and found almost the full release available. I think the only ones missing there were the Smuttynose and the Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal, although the stock of some of the others was getting low.

The Stouts and Porters promotion does not officially begin until Jan. 6th but Queen's Quay would put the stuff out if they had it. Although it's one of the largest volume stores in the province, surprisingly they often get product late and other times, long before the promo starts...I guess that's the way it works when you have a state of the art distribution system as the LCBO does.
Yeah, I've come to expect this spotiness with the LCBO promotions, although I foolishly expected a "flagship" store like Queen's Quay to have everything that had been spotted at the other stores. They actually had 2 or 3 of the items from this promotion out on the shelf as early as mid-December (I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread).
What a strange and frustrating system they have - although I guess those of us in downtown Toronto can at least be thankful that we have four or five outlets within a reasonable distance of each other that participate in these promotions, so even if you have to hit mulitple stores to collect a complete set, it still doesn't take more than an hour or so to do it.

I have bought the Burton Sout, the Rogue Chocolate Stout and the St. Peters Stout at the LCBO on Ogilvie road in Ottawa (the ex Gloucester ON). Didn't try em yet but looking forward to it.
BTW, I have seen the Qidi Vidi 1892 and the Agassiz pale ale from Manitoba at the Beer Store next door. Any toughts on these beers? Is it worth it?

The 1892 isn't bad. It's a nice malty amber ale, although it doesn't have much of a finish to it. I've had it a few times and wouldn't refuse it in the future.BTW, I have seen the Qidi Vidi 1892 and the Agassiz pale ale from Manitoba at the Beer Store next door. Any toughts on these beers? In regard to what is or isn't on the shelves at Queen's Quay LCBO, I do try to get products as soon as I can. Bar Towel can help by listing the Canada Standard Procuct Code (CSPC) for each product. The sooner I get the CSPC for a beer, the sooner I can order it.
For those of you are unfamiliar with beer styles, e.g. barley wine or old brown, I would recommend you download style parameter info from the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP)website. Cheers.

My stouts and porters cupboard is full!!! I made a trip to Queen's Quay today and found only the St Peters Cream Stout and Propeller Porter...so I picked up a couple of those. Back to the office to the LCBO Infoline...St. Lawrence Market had a bunch of the Rogue and Burton...so 4 each of those I collected. I will be a happy tasting man over the next few days!!!
