This weekend I'll be visiting my brother and his family in suburban Detroit and I plan to hit both The Berkley Front and the Royal Oak Brewery. I'll post the details when I return
Cheers

Trip to Detroit
After getting a call from my brother saying that the traffic heading to the Detroit- Windsor Tunel was backed up I had to take the Tunnel Bus to downtown Detroit (cheap $2.60) and then a cab to my hotel, near my brother's place in suburban Detroit. After checking in, I called my brother and we decided to meet at the "Front"
As I entered the Berkley Front(3887 W 12 Mile Rd) I noticed my brother holding a pint of dark beer which turned out to be Spaten Optimator Doppelbock. My brother ordered this beer thinking that it was the Spaten Helles and since he dosen't like dark beers this was my first beer at the Front. After this sweet and strong bock, I needed a bitter and I had numerous pints of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
The Front boasts around 50 taps featuring Great Lakes Oatmeal Stout, Grant's Scottish Ale, Rougue Mocha Porter, and Liefmans Goudenbund. Michigan micros include two from Bell's of Kalamazoo (Third Coast Old Ale and Sparkling Ale), Mad Hatter IPA from New Holland, Holland MI. and Stoney Creek Lager from Detroit. There are also numerous bottles which include the Sam Smith's range, Anchor Porter, four beers from Bells as well as the crap from A.B and Miller.
The Front does sell bar food and the decor is yellow walls with shattered mirrors behind the bar with various countries flags on the ceiling. Unfortunatly the Canadian flag is absent.
On Saturday night I had planned to start at the Front and then head over to the Royal Oak brewpub, but since the cab never showed up I stayed at the Front till Midnight.
On Sunday I returned to Windsor two hours early so I could have lunch at the Kildare House Pub (1880 Wyandotte St. E). This pub was built in the 1890's and had Fuller's London Pride, ESB, and London Porter on tap and Deep fried Haggis and Chips on the menu.
I highly recommed a beer trip to Metro Detroit as there are also good pubs in Ann Arbor and yes even downtown Detroit !
