Kensington Market - Toronto's new beer destination?

Now that Kensington Brewery about to open their new building, Collective Arts announcing they're taking over the Sas-mart space, and evidently another brewpub opening in the old burger bar space. And to add various articles talking about people wanting to open bars/brewpubs in the market as it's abo...

Re: Spot to Watch Jays in Toronto Friday 24th

The Monarch Tavern (upstairs) has BBQ and a bunch of HD TVs with ~12 craft beers.

Those weren't pangs of withdrawl. Check out their dinesafe history :o :o

We can hope that the renos were mainly to the kitchen (although he did get some neon installed).

Just one thing to remember: If you're looking at Macro brewing jobs, it's a different ballgame. I used to know one of the (young) brewmasters at Molson, and his expertise was water - how to take any type/condition of water and make it clean and consistent for use in making beer. He knew very little ...

An excellent time, thanks so much to Ken and the Black Oak team for putting it all together. It was great seeing so many people from the beer world. Hopefully no one ended up in the correctional facility across the street :-) You mean that wasn't the hotel???? No wonder the bed was so uncomfortable...

Bow and Arrow - closed

According to the paper in the window, closed for renovations (and my god that place needed it).

Lots of places closing these days on the Yonge St mid-town strip (ie: Davisville to Lawrence) claiming renovations are happening with nothing happening inside.

So who knows if it'll return though...

Re: Beer Styles You Wish You Had More Access TO

Brooklyn Lager is a fine example of a Vienna. I think you can still find it in a few places. You want to know a spot that has tonnes of this? Skydome. Yes, I was there for a Jays game recently, and it was fully stocked up on bottles of it. Same price as a Blue/Budweiser too! (Although it was $7.50 ...

Mad Monty next to Sporting Life is not bad. (Assuming it's still there as I haven't seen the place since I moved last year.) Quick derail: I'd definitely not recommend Monty's for two reasons: 1) They serve wrong beers - I was there while the local Labatt's rep made a delivery/hookup of kegs, and t...

Getting (personal) CO2 tanks refilled

Anyone got a recommend Toronto based CO2 provider that can refill 5lb tanks on the spot, or do a swap? Don't really want to leave it there overnight if I have to. We've got a keg fridge that was out of commission for a while, but now is coming back online. But to our dismay, the CO2 tank is empty, a...
