Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

I would also like to add. Many people in the brewing industry participate in this site. It might sound like privileged bitching (that would be a good beer name), but it's also feedback to these producers about what this community feels about respect and diversity. A little bit of free market researc...

Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

Perhaps my perspective is somewhat formed by places I have visited/lived in, but I find this issue tedious, relatively meaningless and a very slippery slope for any consumer of anything. It's the moral indignation factor and how selectively it is applied that bothers me about this and other related...

Re: Peppered beers

I stopped in at Stonehooker in Port Credit on the weekend. They had close to 20 different beers in the cooler. :o One is Spicy Raspberry 2.0 Saison . The description on the can says: Our Steampunk Saison base has been kicked up a notch with delicious red raspberry and spicy Mexican chiles (sic) to ...

Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

Different slant on the issue for Nine Locks Brewing in Nova Scotia. It's not the label that is the problem, but the beer name (Dirty Blonde) and marketing. I'm going to plant my ass on the fence regarding this one. I'm not sure how hair colour (or malt colour) has to be viewed as sexist. But I'm gu...

Re: Amsterdam Brewery

Anyone have any insight into this year's Double Tempest? Is it still available? Price? How does it compare to last year's batch? UPDATE: It is still available at Esandar Dr., $16.95 per bottle. It was unavailable for sample :( but the clerk said this batch is especially chocolatey. And they have ca...

Anybody try their beers? Thoughts?

I don't see any GTA LCBO availability. Is it showing up on taps anywhere?

I have to admit, it's their cheeky branding that's got me curious. I hope the beer lives up to it.

Re: Sexism ideology

Anyone who thought the Naughty Neighbour or Immodest labels were sexist is the softest millennial do-gooder there is. Nickel Brook wimped out big time on that one and the new cans are try-hard and look horrendous as fuck. I haven't seen or heard any women complain. Just dudes that are trying so har...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I found the cannings of Karma have been a little uneven this year. For instance I had some Sep 11 cans that were excellent, but there was a slightly earlier date that seemed to be lacking aroma and carbonation. I've noticed this sort of thing before with GLB, but I usually let it slide since their ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I was wondering if anyone has had infection issues with beers other than the 2018 BOYD? I sent a Black Roses to someone recently as a desired extra in a trade and he let me know it had gone quite sour. Has anyone had issues with 2017 BOYD, 2017 or 18 Skeleton Keys or recent 3 Minutes to Midnight? C...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At beerbistro: Great Lakes Hümber Helles What do you think of this? I'm looking forward to trying it if I can find it somewhere. It's so hard to get a decent locally brewed Helles. The People's pint is pretty good. While not earth shattering it's well executed. Muddy York's is, well, not lagered lo...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Propeller ESB I recall reading a comment or two on this forum saying ESB is, perhaps, an underrated style. I would agree in the sense that I don't see too many comments about it. I generally like ESBs quite a bit, and the Propeller I had last night was very good. I always really liked Central City ...

Re: Too many milkshakes

My choice words are...the idea that it's "too many" is when it crowds out other stuff. No, I don't like this style. It's up there with flavored coffee. Why not just make a good coffee instead of dumping some syrup in there? But hey, there are people that like this, so let them have the cho...
