Beyond The Pale Brewery
I'll sure try to get there. I may have been lucky, reading some posts in here, but I havent had anything poor from them at all.pushkinwow wrote:Agree - I am definitely interested in being there but not sure I am dedicated enough to get there early and wait. Quite the contrary. Last time I was there, the beers were being served at cellar temperature, and the body and aromas benefited quite a bit from this.

Just to be clearn, I haven't had anything "poor" either. Just nothing that would encourage me to either suffer or be inconvenienced in order to acquire more. If this was released during the week when I can get to it easily enough, I'd pop by.
I admire what they are trying to do, and they seem like a really cool group of people.

Huh, hadn't caught that. Wishful thinking I guess.
Just tried Rye Guy for the third time. No quality issues here. Super fresh, tropical fruit. NOT AT ALL LIKE ANY OTHER SIMILARLY FLAVOURED BEERS, ESPECIALLY NOT LIKE OTHER WELL-REGARDED SIMILARLY FLAVOURED BEERS.
**Edited to avoid the wrath of the comparator police.

Craft beer hipster before it was cool
Didn't make it out today.
But did just polish off my Rye guy growler that I picked up. It's not Heady Topper, it's good though. I would love for it to be a little less than 6.7%. So I can sit down and drink it all night and not feel guilty.
But I'm having a Yellow Snow right after and it's brighter and more vibrant on the hop profile.
I know Shane loves his hops and he's bringing it with Rye Guy.

Must have seen you there...was the guy in the very bright pantsBytowner wrote:Took a chance and went by 15 minutes before open, was the second person there. About a dozen or so people by noon.
The beer is actually quite good. Great roasted malt and the alcohol is well incorporated, not hot at all.

Picked up two bottles but have yet to have a chance to open one up. Maybe this weekend. Excited for the BA version in a couple of months.

There's nothing magic about HT. It's a well-made beer that's even better because the only real supply means it's always fresh. It's just hops, malt, and water.TheSevenDuffs wrote:Sounds like hyperbole to meI would be interested to see if anyone who is not from Ottawa has tried this and finds it comparable to HT
We all have our local biases, so I am not picking on you. I have admitedly not tried anything from these guys so they could be the next Hill Farmstead for all I know...
I have no problem referencing the HT hop profile (or any other beer people might have had) to describe other beers. It doesn't say anything about the quality of the other beer, just what kind of flavours are present.
The last Rye Guy I tasted had similar juicy, tropical hop aromatics as HT. It doesn't mean it's the same as HT. It doesn't mean it's as good as HT. Good grief.
