While sad... the West Side, just down the street, is better & cheaper.SteelbackGuy wrote: It recently happened here with a place called the Paragon.

Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Castle on King Closing
Time will tell with respect to the Castle. It's a pretty distinctive building. I don't know that I'd want to try to run another same-theme restaurant out of there. So, I'd expect to see at least some substantial renovation. It will be hard to tell exactly what the new business arrangement is - unless it's replaced with a StarBucks, of course.
While weekends seemed busy, and the bar area was often busy, the restaurant part was pretty empty any weekday I went. The restaurant business just didn't seem enough to keep it going.
Many thanks to Harold and Deanna for bringing us local access to great beer and for encouraging Grand River Brewing and Ontario brewers in general. Best wishes and luck for the future.

Yeah it was pretty much a mob scene. I got in around 9 and stayed for about 5 minutes due to the absence of beer and glasses to buy. I signed the guest book but looking back I forgot to add in my phone number like everyone else was doing. Said my good byes to the servers and took a few last dramatic glances at the place while walking away. Such a shame.
I'm hopefully going to check out the Golden Kiwi down in Galt some time this week. Not exactly conveniently located. I've heard it's not quite up to the level the Castle was in terms of taps and selection, but still pretty good. Seems like the next best thing now.
