While sad... the West Side, just down the street, is better & cheaper.

Time will tell with respect to the Castle. It's a pretty distinctive building. I don't know that I'd want to try to run another same-theme restaurant out of there. So, I'd expect to see at least some substantial renovation. It will be hard to tell exactly what the new business arrangement is - unless it's replaced with a StarBucks, of course.

While weekends seemed busy, and the bar area was often busy, the restaurant part was pretty empty any weekday I went. The restaurant business just didn't seem enough to keep it going.

Many thanks to Harold and Deanna for bringing us local access to great beer and for encouraging Grand River Brewing and Ontario brewers in general. Best wishes and luck for the future. :)

I had a great time at the Castle last night with JesseM. The place was fuller then Ive ever seen it and its nice to see people enjoying craft beer on tap in K-W while they still can. The Castle on King will certainly be missed by anyone who ever had the pleasure of visiting.

I'm planning on going tonight as well. I need to get my fix of Schnitzel and Kraut before they close up!

Just got back from saying my goodbyes to the place. It was a very sad occasion. Enjoyed two pints of Plowman's and a plate of fries. Watched some football and purchased a Brooklyn glass. Said thanks to John and Harold and made my way home.

So depressing.

Ran out of beer at 8pm. Sad evening really. A really good crowd, all appreciative of the efforts the folks behind the Castle have made towards great beer in this area.

I have not been here long but I'll still miss it greatly.

Yeah it was pretty much a mob scene. I got in around 9 and stayed for about 5 minutes due to the absence of beer and glasses to buy. I signed the guest book but looking back I forgot to add in my phone number like everyone else was doing. Said my good byes to the servers and took a few last dramatic glances at the place while walking away. Such a shame.

I'm hopefully going to check out the Golden Kiwi down in Galt some time this week. Not exactly conveniently located. I've heard it's not quite up to the level the Castle was in terms of taps and selection, but still pretty good. Seems like the next best thing now.
